High Point is a happy, thriving city in the northern central part of the beautiful state of North Carolina. Located within four different counties, it is the only city within North Carolina that does that, and despite its affiliation with these four separate entities, High Point is a friendly, unified community of residents.
Named for the fact that it is the location of the highest point of the North Carolina railroad in the middle of the 1800s, and this is part of the reason why High Point has had such a successful local economy, even since its early days. The first European settlers to this part of North Carolina were primarily German settlers, and a fair amount of Quaker families as well. Because of its somewhat central location in the state, and the fact that many different roads and railroad lines converged here in High Point, the city saw significant early growth. The primary industries here in High Point include tobacco, textiles, and furniture manufacturing.
In the early 1920s, High Point University was founded, providing local North Carolina residents with access to great higher educational opportunities and resources. High Point University’s arrival brought in significant growth and development to the city of High Point, and the university is seen as a huge asset and benefit to living here in High Point to this day. In the early 2000s, High Point University received high praise along with a high ranking nationally when it came to universities with a comprehensive educational program. Of all the schools ranked in the southern part of the United States, High Point University got first place!
High Point is known for having some of the most gorgeous old houses and historic buildings in the state of North Carolina, which is saying something. If you are ever able to take a tour of some of the local historic homes, the John Haley House, the John H. Adams House, William Penn High School, and the Eli Moore House should all be on your list. High Point boasts dozens of homes and buildings on the National Register of Historic Places, and any history or architecture enthusiasts would enjoy taking a tour of these High Point treasures.
The High Point Public School District provides many great local public schools to students from elementary age through high school age. Besides these public schools, there are also a wide variety of private school and charter school options for local students to choose from. Any students living in High Point can contact the local High Point tutors for extra help in a wide range of subjects. These local tutors can meet up with each student one-on-one to help them achieve their educational goals.

Families share goals and scheduling preferences through a short intake. That information becomes a learner profile. Grade Potential then introduces your profile to a professional independent tutor whose background aligns. Once the tutor accepts, you’re introduced directly and sessions can begin.
Our packages are highly customizable based on your budget, preferred session cadence, time frame, location, and a few other factors. You’ll be presented with clear pricing before you begin. We support families in choosing the session length and cadence that works best for their individual situation; no hard sales tactics and no obligation to purchase a long-term package.
Typically within 2-3 business days, depending on subject, location, and schedule availability. Urgent timelines are noted in your profile so introductions prioritize your timing.
