About Greensboro

Greensboro is located in the northern central part of the beautiful state of North Carolina. As one of the state's most populous cities, Greensboro offers its residents access to many rich amenities, including great local schools, beautiful local parks, and many fun community events and festivals. One thing that Greensboro residents say is that there is "always something fun to do in Greensboro", and there really is something for everyone here. Whether you're a longtime resident or just passing through, Greensboro is a thriving city with a lot to offer.

There is a lot to do in Greensboro. From outdoor activities to interesting museums, there is never a lack of activities to do. On a hot, summer day, you'll find that most of the town's population is at the Wet n' Wild Emerald Pointe Water Park, which features fun water slides, kiddie pools, and shaded picnic areas. The Weatherspoon Art Museum brings in a wide variety of art exhibitions throughout the year, and sees a fair amount of traffic from locals and art lovers from around the world. The Greensboro Science Center is another popular venue that brings in many tourists, providing an educational and fun atmosphere with exhibits ranging in many various scientific topics. The Greensboro Roller Derby is another fun place to bring the family, and even though roller rinks seem to have died out in the rest of the country, Greensboro is keeping the dream alive.

Greensboro has a long history in the textile and furniture manufacturing industries. After the Civil War was over, these industries needed to be rebuilt, and Greensboro successfully re-established their name as a leading city in these industries. At the turn of the century and in the early 1900s, Greensboro was known in the southern United States as the "capital" city when it came to the textile industry, producing much of the materials for the clothing production of the time. This generated a very healthy local economy in Greensboro, and you can see the richness of the area based on some of the grand buildings that were build during that time period. The local courthouse, for example, is a work of modern art, with grand architectural features.

Since the early 2000s, there has been some development in Greensboro, including a new shopping center in town. The Four Seasons Town Centre provides a great place for locals to go shopping, with many big brand name shops here. The nearby Greensboro Colosseum provides a great event venue for locals here in Greensboro.

Students of Greensboro are served by the Guilford County Public School District. Beyond the public schools within this district, there are also a number of private school and charter school options available to local students. For any students living in Greensboro, local Greensboro tutors are available for extra help. These local tutors can meet one-on-one to help each student reach their personal educational goals.
