In 2016, Eden Prairie, Minnesota, was named the second-best place to live in America by Money magazine. In 2010, the city took the number-one spot, and in 2006 it was number ten. Obviously, Eden Prairie has a lot going for it. But exactly what did Money like so much? The answer was summed up succinctly in the 2016 write-up. Money called Eden Prairie, “Where the great outdoors meets a great job market.”
A Thriving Economy
Eden Prairie has only 62,000 residents but 57,000 jobs and a meager 3.6% unemployment rate, according to Money magazine. Supplying those jobs are big-name companies in the transportation, retail, and health-care sectors. Eden Prairie is the home to Optum, a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group Inc.; Fortune 500 trucking company C. H. Robinson; grocery retailer Supervalu; and hearing-aid manufacturer Starkey Hearing Technologies. SouthWest Transit has its public transportation hub here.
The responsible city government has maintained low debt, a healthy and diversified tax base, and, since 2003, a AAA bond rating from Moody’s. Looking ahead, a light rail extension that will connect the city to downtown Minneapolis could also strengthen the city’s economy even more.
Natural Beauty
The great outdoors is incredibly accessible to residents of Eden Prairie. With thirty-seven parks, seventeen lakes used for swimming and ice skating, nearly 200 miles of multi-use trails, and 1,300 acres of open space, Eden Prairie can claim to be a natural playground that adults and kids, especially students who get ahead in their studies with the services of an Eden Prairie tutor, have at their disposal.
The town’s geography makes it a natural for outdoor lovers. The land consists of rolling bluffs overlooking the Minnesota River, with areas of prairie and mixed forests. Archived records mention that the town was originally named Eden in 1853 by a Mrs. Elliott, who admired the beautiful prairie on the south end of town.
Eden Prairie also maintains a natural spring, six off-leash dog areas, several public beaches with watercraft rentals available, a skatepark, two splash pads, an observatory housed near the Staring Lake Outdoor Center, a 700-foot sledding hill, cross-country ski trails, a forty-five-foot “gathering bridge” for meditation and reflection at Purgatory Creek Park, and a veteran’s memorial, also located in Purgatory Creek Park.
Active Community
There’s plenty of shopping, dining, and cultural activities around town. The city maintains a thriving community garden program, with a total of 132 small, 15 medium, and 18 large garden plots available for rent in three locations. The Eden Prairie Historical Society maintains several homes and structures around town, with a goal to gather, preserve, and protect the history of Eden Prairie for generations to come. With more than one-third of households having children under the age of eighteen, the city has invested in its schools, offering its students a variety of advanced learning programs, talented teachers, and skilled Eden Prairie tutors.

Families share goals and scheduling preferences through a short intake. That information becomes a learner profile. Grade Potential then introduces your profile to a professional independent tutor whose background aligns. Once the tutor accepts, you’re introduced directly and sessions can begin.
Our packages are highly customizable based on your budget, preferred session cadence, time frame, location, and a few other factors. You’ll be presented with clear pricing before you begin. We support families in choosing the session length and cadence that works best for their individual situation; no hard sales tactics and no obligation to purchase a long-term package.
Typically within 2-3 business days, depending on subject, location, and schedule availability. Urgent timelines are noted in your profile so introductions prioritize your timing.
In-person at home or another convenient, quiet, safe location (like the local library). When families need flexibility, online sessions are also available.
Experienced, professional independent tutors with strong subject knowledge and a track record of working one-on-one with students. Many hold degrees in their fields; some are certified teachers or graduate students with specialized expertise.
Yes—safety is our top priority. Tutors complete screening through Simpliverified background checks, consistent with local requirements and platform standards.

Support spans elementary through college across all core subjects (math, reading, writing, science, languages) plus test prep (e.g., SAT/ACT, AP, GRE) and many electives. If it’s taught in school, there’s likely a tutor with relevant experience. Adult learners can also benefit from tutoring services in a wide variety of subjects.
Most families choose 60-90 minute sessions 1-2 times per week. Cadence and length are set directly with the tutor to fit the student’s goals, pace, and schedule.
