A small town in south central Arizona, Coolidge is a family-friendly town that boasts a high quality of living for its residents. Located with Pinal County, Coolidge is named after the last name of the thirtieth President of the United States. Though Coolidge was founded in the early 1900s, the history of this land goes back way farther.
To get a good idea of the rich history of this area in Arizona, you can take a tour of ancient ruins that are located within Coolidge. The Casa Grande Ruins can be found here in Coolidge, and these historical ruins are said to have been originally constructed by Ancestral Puebloans of what is now central Arizona. Interestingly enough, this is the first historical site to be officially preserved and protected by the National Park Service. When you visit the ruins, you will see a tall modern structure that provides shelter and protection for the ruins themselves. It is estimated that the ruins date back to the 1200s A.D., which is pretty incredible to behold. It is definitely a historic site worth visiting while exploring Arizona.
Even though the city of Coolidge is fairly small in population, families that live here love the wide variety of resources and activities that are available to them. The active Parks and Recreation Department works hard to maintain public parks and facilities throughout the city, and the department is also responsible for planning youth sports leagues and directing town events. There’s a lot going on in Coolidge, and families love that there is always something to do.
When it comes to local parks, Coolidge boasts ten beautiful public facilities. Kenilworth Sports Complex is best known for its athletic fields, and is often busy with team practices and league tournaments. San Carlos Park is a local favorite, with barbecue pits, picnicking benches, and a playground for young children. Besides these outdoor spaces, Coolidge also has a public swimming pool, which is very popular and busy during the hot summer months. The Coolidge Youth Center is also available for kids looking to stay busy and keep active. A gym, multipurpose game center, and restrooms are available for the younger members of the community.
