    About Calabasas

Calabasas, now a recognizable and sought-after city thanks to the Kardashian family putting it on the map, for many years was a small community north of Los Angeles off the scenic 101 Freeway. In recent years, many celebrities, the Kardashians included, have moved into this upscale hamlet away from the bustle and smog of the Los Angeles. Hollywood executives, actors, musicians, and other figures of notoriety reside in Calabasas—perhaps coming to this city would actually result in a star-sighting, unlike other, more famous communities in the Los Angeles area. Visitors of this city many be interested in tracking down the latest salad Khloe Kardashian has promoted on Keeping up With the Kardashians, or perhaps catch a glimpse of hip-hop icon, Tyga, at the local gym. Residents, however, live normal lives, go to school and work, and enjoy communal activities just like anyone else in the United States. The Calabasas Library is welcoming to all—visitor and resident— and offers a variety of services to anyone who walks through its doors.

The Calabasas Library was first opened in 2008, partially funded by a public bond, to operate separate from the Los Angeles County Library System. Eager to operate under its own city practices, the library is now staffed with excellent librarians, as well as at least 70,000 items for check out, not to mention the research tools and free Wi-Fi they offer as a service to all patrons. Libraries are communal symbols of knowledge, and represent the best of what a city has to offer its citizens to keep them mentally active, well-informed, and literate in an increasingly digital world.

In keeping with the purpose of libraries worldwide, the Calabasas Library’s mission statement reads: “Freedom and democracy require a well-informed citizenry and the full exchange of a diversity of viewpoints. To that end, the mission of the City of Calabasas Library is: to provide free and equal access to materials, information technology, and services, administered by a knowledgeable, professional and caring staff; to respond to changing individual and community needs in reading, research, and education; and to support the cultural and recreational interests, identity and pride of its citizens.” This admirable dedication to the dissemination of knowledge is key to the communal health of Calabasas, and is integral in the educational aims of its different students.

Grade Potential tutors in Calabasas are trained to utilize all resources available at their disposal to help their students, including the library. In fact, there is a distinct possibility that your appointment could be held there if you are a struggling student in need of tutoring services. Tutors are like the library: full of information and academic help to lend to clients who only need to show up to take advantage of it.
