Angleton, Texas is one of hundreds, if not thousands, of cities in the state that have deep connections to America’s favorite sport: football. Athletic programs throughout the state consistently give rise to some of the biggest stars in the National Football League, as well as college football. Angleton is the hometown of several NFL players, and among them is Emmitt Thomas, who has not only played professional ball, but also coaches the sport.
Born in 1943, Thomas had an early start playing football. In his biography, he notes of his success: “I could get the football. I had great ball skills and speed.” Natural athleticism and hard work paid off for this Angleton native, who has enjoyed a career both playing and then working with the world of football. Thomas was drafted from Bishop College as a free agent in 1966 to the Kansas City Chiefs, first in the American League and then the National League. While playing for the Chiefs, he earned an all-time interception record of 58, which ranks him 9th place on the NFL’s all-time list.
Thomas enjoyed a successful playing career with the Chiefs, and went on to work in coaching capacities for the Falcons and then returned to coach the Chiefs in 2010. Teams under Thomas saw successful seasons, and thrived under his leadership. A few years ago, he spoke at Fawcett Stadium when he was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame. During his speech, Thomas humbly noted how public perception shaped who he was and how he played and coached. He said, “They say I’m here because I played the game a certain way. They say I played the game with heart and determination. It has been written that I played the game with a lot of poise. Countless number of fans have told me I played the game with a high level of integrity.” He went on to note, “Maybe all these fine compliments are true, but one thing I can assure you, that every time I stepped on the field at Municipal Stadium and later at Arrowhead Stadium I did it with the knowledge that I was representing the Kansas City Chiefs and I knew what it meant to millions and millions of Americans across the world.”
Thomas’ self-perception is telling, and solidifies his admirable position in NFL history. His attitude reflects his humble beginnings in Angleton, and tutors working in this city have a similar approach to their jobs. When they work with students, tutors are aware of who they represent at Grade Potential, and the values of learning they take with them from one appointment to the next. They, too, do their jobs with hearts and determination, and their clients know this from the results they generate in the form of better grades and improved academic success.

Our packages are highly customizable based on your budget, preferred session cadence, time frame, location, and a few other factors. You’ll be presented with clear pricing before you begin. We support families in choosing the session length and cadence that works best for their individual situation; no hard sales tactics and no obligation to purchase a long-term package.
