Silver Lake California is not a city filled with major landmarks or museums. It doesn’t have grand attractions bringing in millions, or a world famous something or other. It does, however, have a rich history in the film industry, one that put the town on the map and made it what it is today.
Many of the early forms of motion picture industries called this area home, setting up their first make shift studios and offices in commercial buildings and garages. Here you could find studios like the Mack Sennett Studios, Tom Mix, Disney, Monogram (which would become KCET), and Talmadge (which we now know as ABC) got their start here, and drew in people from all different backgrounds and walks of life to the area. The town even had a “cyclorama” a revolving set which would make actors who were pretending to run look like they were actually moving somewhere.
Before Hollywood became the place to be, many famous actors, directors, and filmmakers called Silver Lake Home. Among them were Gloria Swanson, Laurel and Hardy, and Antonio Moreno. Moreno was known for his famous and outstanding work with silent films. When he became a developer for part of the city’s neighborhoods, he styled his community, known as the Moreno Highlands, after Mediterranean villages his wife and he had come across during their honeymoon. These buildings had inspired and wowed him, and his home, the Canfield- Moreno estate, was also built in this style, and set the tone for the other houses in the vicinity. Moreno could have been a Silver Lake tutor for architecture with how successful his vision was!
All of this growth began when in the 1920’s and 1930’s City Planners saw the potential the city had. With all this big names and studios in the area, the town had to reflect its status. So, they invested in cement streets and underground utilities, and encouraged developers to come to their city. Draw in by the natural beauty and landscape of Silver Lake, their calls were answered.
Today the excitement has gone down, however it is still a beautiful city with much to offer, including easily accessible Silver Lake tutors to help you achieve your own dreams, whatever they may be. While many of the large studios have left, and the streets are no longer studded with stars, Silver Lake retains an appeal all its own, even without the help of the big names that once called it home.

Our packages are highly customizable based on your budget, preferred session cadence, time frame, location, and a few other factors. You’ll be presented with clear pricing before you begin. We support families in choosing the session length and cadence that works best for their individual situation; no hard sales tactics and no obligation to purchase a long-term package.
