A beautiful small city within the gorgeous county of Marin, San Anselmo is a unique city with a very San Francisco small-town vibe. Only a short car drive away from the Golden Gate Bridge, San Anselmo is a fairly affluent town with many beautiful estates and well-maintained neighborhoods. Boasting a high quality of living, San Anselmo has a lot to offer all who live here.
Interestingly enough, this area remained wild for many years until the railroad arrived to this region near San Francisco. When tracks connected what is now San Anselmo to San Rafael in the late 1800s, families began to settle here, as it was close the then growing city of San Francisco. San Anselmo is a popular residential city for San Francisco commuters to this day.
In the early 1900s, a big electric train project was taking place in the Bay Area region of California. The Northwestern Pacific Electric Train system was under construction, and it increased the accessibility of many local cities. This was all before the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge, and allowed commuters to get to and from San Anselmo and other surrounding cities with more ease.
You may have heard the name “San Anselmo” before because of one of its most famous residents. George Lucas, movie director of films like Star Wars, American Graffiti, and many others, lived here in San Anselmo. It is said he did much of his script writing and producing in his house that he and his wife called “Parkhouse” right here in San Anselmo. It was known that he showed early versions of Star Wars at a big party he hosted in this home, inviting many big names in Hollywood to join and watch the early screenings.
Education is important to residents of San Anselmo, and they are happy with the selection of schools in the area. Served by a number of public elementary schools, public middle schools, and public high schools, San Anselmo also has access to a number of private schools and charter schools as well. Parents feel that the quality of education here is high, and are happy with the choices they have for their children. Students of any level that need extra after-school help can hire local San Anselmo tutors. These local tutors can meet one-on-one with each student after school, helping to develop better study habits, and ultimately helping each student to reach their own personal educational goals.

Families share goals and scheduling preferences through a short intake. That information becomes a learner profile. Grade Potential then introduces your profile to a professional independent tutor whose background aligns. Once the tutor accepts, you’re introduced directly and sessions can begin.
Our packages are highly customizable based on your budget, preferred session cadence, time frame, location, and a few other factors. You’ll be presented with clear pricing before you begin. We support families in choosing the session length and cadence that works best for their individual situation; no hard sales tactics and no obligation to purchase a long-term package.
Typically within 2-3 business days, depending on subject, location, and schedule availability. Urgent timelines are noted in your profile so introductions prioritize your timing.

Experienced, professional independent tutors with strong subject knowledge and a track record of working one-on-one with students. Many hold degrees in their fields; some are certified teachers or graduate students with specialized expertise.
Yes—safety is our top priority. Tutors complete screening through Simpliverified background checks, consistent with local requirements and platform standards.
