    About Ann Arbor

Ann Arbor, Michigan, is the proud home of the University of Michigan. Founded in Detroit in 1817, it is the oldest college in the state. In fact, it was founded when the state of Michigan was just a territory. The University of Michigan is known as one of the best research colleges in the U.S. and the Carnegie Foundation classified it as, a Doctoral University with Very High Research. Currently, the University of Michigan has the most living alumni of any college in the world.

Truly understanding the importance of appreciating, preserving, and displaying art, the University of Michigan has over a dozen art galleries, more than one hundred and fifty art expositions, a botanical garden and arboretum, several performance art centers, and twenty libraries. This rich collection of modern and historic media, is a treasury that few colleges enjoy; but perhaps what is most exciting about the collection is that the University of Michigan believes that art is to be shared and enjoyed by all. So all most all of their exhibits, performances, events, and festivals are open to the public and a large portion of these experiences are free. The University of Michigan wants to tutor the public in art appreciation, history and the joy of creative expression.

One of the university's, favorite family fun attractions, is the Museum of Natural History. The museum sees over 100,000 visitors every year and invites visitors of all ages to explore its exhibits. One of the highlights is the prehistoric life exhibit, which is the largest dinosaur exhibit in the state. The museum also includes the Michigan wildlife, anthropology, geology and digital planetarium exhibits. There are also many hands on programs for kids, and the museum will even throw you a birthday party! These family fun adventures are a great way to study history and science.

Another great spot is one of the largest and oldest university art museums in the U.S. There are more than 21,000 pieces that date back centuries, and are from cultures around the world. To name just a few, some of the artists include Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, James McNeill Whistler, and Andy Warhol. The university has been collecting art forms more than one hundred and fifty years, and has a lot to show for it.

One thing for sure is that if you visit the University of Michigan, you will have a memorable and inspiring experience. Ann Arbor tutors want to inspire student to do well in school and go after their dreams. If your child is having difficulties at school, there is an Ann Arbor tutor available to help.
